To get the job you want you have to know how to write a proper resume. However, your resume will not get you the job. A resume is merely a means to get you a job interview. After that you have to demonstrate that you are the right man or woman for the job. Unless you are applying for a job that requires in depth reporting on your education or background you want to fit all you have about yourself onto one page. You will want to include an area for your skills. Short and sweet is an excellent rule of thumb.
Include all of your relevant skills. This is an area that an employer might be more interested in than your work or education history. Sure it is great you helped increase productivity at your previous place of employment but do you know how to put together a power point presentation?
